Chief Ministers Reading Challenge

The Chief Minister’s Reading Challenge has commenced!

To complete the challenge students need to read 30 books before Friday 21 July.

Students will be given an individual reading record from their teacher. Each time they complete a book they add it to their reading record and have it signed off by a parent, carer, or teacher. Teachers will also be recording books on the Whole Class Reading Record for years P-2.

Books can be novels, non-fiction, poetry, or books in a language other than English including bilingual texts.

It’s well worth the challenge! By participating children can win book vouchers for the school library.

Library

When you make an order from the P&C run Scholastic Book Club, a percentage of your total order spent will be given back to the school to help put more books into the school library. Thank you we really appreciate your support to help fill our library.

NAPLAN

NAPLAN testing will occur in our school between 15 and 27 March 2023.

Education ministers agreed that NAPLAN would move to Term One from 2023. This will mean results will be available to education authorities earlier in the year to inform school and system teaching and learning programs and will assist teachers to better determine support students need for the coming year.

NAPLAN Online is a more engaging assessment that adjusts questions to each student’s achievement level.

NAPLAN provides valuable information to schools and parents about literacy and numeracy achievement. It supports school improvement processes by enabling teachers to monitor student progress over time and to identify areas of strength and development.

All eligible students are encouraged and supported to participate in NAPLAN testing. Visit www.nap.edu.au to see interactive versions of the test and for more information.

Auslan Sign of the Week

Hello! We are sharing four signs with you this  week as we missed last week. We will start with  ‘Toilet’ and ‘Eat’.

And then 'Bell' and 'Finish'. All of  these words are used quite frequently across all learning environments.

-Has your child been communicating at home using Auslan?

-Have they been teaching members of your family?

If so, let us know! We'd love to hear how our school community is working together to ensure everyone feels they belong.

We are still working towards  our whole school celebration . We are currently up to 2600 tickets!  Only 400 more to go.

- The bag(s) will be collected by the Return-It/CDS group and counted at one of their facilities (during a quiet period of their day).

- A notice of deposit will be received by the P&C - Thank you!!!

There are two, close to school, return points located at:

- Gungahlin: O'Brien Place - near the carwash, Gungahlin Vet and Goodyear tyres.

- Amaroo: near theschool oval off Horsepark Drive.
