PBL
Over the next few weeks I thought I would share with you some information about PBL and what it is for those in our community who are unsure.
What is PBL?
PBL Stands for Positive Behaviours for Learning (PBL). It is a framework that schools use to get everyone- students, staff, families and the school community on the same page to create a safe and supportive learning enviornment for all students. PBL is an international evidence-based whole school process which can be implemented in any school setting to support students.
What does PBL involve?
To start schools create clear expectations and rules that use positive language, for example 'walk' instead of 'don't run'. This is done for all areas across the school and all people involved in the school community. Students, staff and parents have been involved in this process. Once everyone has agreed to these expectations, a system is designed to acknolwedge students for following the expectations. Each school community descides how they would like to do this. Here at Neville Bonner we hand our our safe, respectful, learner tokens and once the tubes are full have a whole school celebration. We will be holding another PJ day on Friday the 11th of August (8th of August for the start of the week preschool groups) as we filled up two tubes last term.
