Newsletter: Term 3 - Week 6

A Message from the Deputy Principal

Book Week/Book Fair

This week we celebrated Book Week, and what an amazing week it was. On Wednesday we wished Robyn Happy National Library Day and thanked her for all the work she does in our library, we believe we have the best library in all of Canberra! A big thank you to all the families who supported our Book Fair through the purchasing of books and our staff who assisted in helping throughout the week. We look forward to be able to update you with how much was raised through sales shortly.

Today we held our Book Week parade and what a great selection of characters we had. It was an incredible event with music, a parade and celebrating our love of reading. A big thank you to those parents who were able to stay and be a part of the celebrations.

Fathers Day Stall

Father’s Day is coming up on Sunday 3 September to remember, celebrate with and share the day with those special people in our lives. The P&C will be running a Father’s Day stall with gifts ranging from $2-$10. The stall will run on Thursday 31 August for the majority of students to shop at during class time. Our beginning of the week Mon/Tue preschool groups and those attending district athletics will have the opportunity to shop on Wednesday 30. Thank you to the P&C for organising the stall for our students to shop at. Further information can be found in the P&C section of this newsletter.

Seesaw

Last week I was able to share with you some great data about the amount of posts and comments with have had on Seesaw. I hope over the last week you have had the opportunity to 'like' (click on the heart) or leave a comment on your child's post. Both the children and teachers love it when you do. Seesaw this year has replaced our portfolios and we would like to give you the opportunity to provide feedback on the use of this platform, I know many of you have reached our personally to us with really positive comments. If you would like to provide feedback please click on this link.

Fortnightly Focus

Next fortnights focus is "we are sunsafe". As it is now August it is hats on, as the weather heats up and the UV rating increases. At Neville Bonner all students are expected to wear a broad brimmed hat at break times. If your child does not have a hat they will be asked to sit in the shade. Please remind your child to bring their hat and have a discussion with them about the importance of being sunsafe.
