Newsletter: Term 4 - Week 10

A Message from the Principal

We’ve reached the last day of a very busy school year. The Kristen and Nige Breakfast Show was a fun event to end the school year with. You  will have received communication last week that I am taking a year’s leave to be with my family in Queensland. I’ve have thoroughly enjoyed leading the school over the last two years. We have a fabulous school with a wonderful community and I will miss it. I’m happy that to begin the school year, Sylvia Headon will be acting principal. This will ensure for stability and consistency which is great. Sylvia will make an announcement in the new year with regard to who will act in her Deputy Principal position.

I’d like to wish everyone a safe and relaxing summer break and hope you manage to recharge in anticipation of another big year in 2024.

Bookpacks – It is still not too late order a book pack for next year and qualify for free shipping. The cut off date for this is today, the 15th December. If you don’t manage to make this window, you can still order a book pack for your child and it will be delivered to your home address in readiness for the new school year.

2024 Classes – Teachers and the leadership team have spent a long time formulating classes for next year. We asked parents to provide input earlier in the term and where possible have included this in our work. We continue to receive some requests up until very late in the term. Unfortunately, it is likely too late to accommodate these. The classes have been put together considering many requests and student friendship requests. To accommodate late changes now undoes a lot of the work that has already been done.

First Day of School – You will receive an email on Thursday 25th January advising you who your child’s class teacher is for 2024. As with last year a map will also be included to ensure students can go straight to their classrooms on the first day. The first days of school are Tuesday 30th January for Preschool (Monday/Tuesday groups) and Kindergarten, Wednesday 31st January for Year 1-6, and Thursday 1st February for Preschool (Thursday/Friday) groups. Students starting at Neville Bonner for the first time in Year 1-6 will also have an orientation visit on Tuesday 30th January.

Seesaw Portfolios

It's that time of the year when we ask you to download your child's Seesaw portfolio so you have a copy of the amazing learning they completed this year. Prior to the beginning of the 2024 school year, current classes will be archived ready to place students into their new learning groups. Once this occurs, you will no longer have access to the current portfolio.

Please follow the instructions (attached to the newsletter email) to keep your child's 2023 portfolio of learning. Alternatively, you can reference the Seesaw website at this link https://help.seesaw.me/hc/en-us/articles/208754866-How-do-families-and-students-download-an-archive-of-student-work- for the instructions.
